Nate Diaz will finally make his return to the octagon after a lengthy layoff at UFC 241. The Stockton native will face off against Anthony Pettis at welterweight. This fight is expected to serve as a co-main to Cormier vs Stipe 2 at UFC 24 in California on August 17.
Diaz (19-11 ), last fought in 2016 where he lost a decision rematch to Conor McGregor at UFC 202. The trilogy fight is always there for Diaz and McGregor, but it feels the hype has died down since then. If Diaz can pick up a win here and gain some momentum – then surely it will pick up certain UFC fans interest in Diaz vs. McGregor 3.
Pettis (22-8), made his welterweight debut at in March and defeated Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson with a superman hook. Clearly he’s one of the more undersized fighters at 170 pounds, but Pettis has made up for the lack of weight-cut with an increase in punching power. Pettis was an underdog against Thompson, and he defeated the odds. This time we expect the line to be a little bit closer between him and Diaz.
It’s been almost three years since we’ve seen Diaz compete inside the octagon, known for his impressive cardio, slick boxing and black belt jiu-jitsu Diaz would be our pick if this fight we’re to happen two years ago. This fight will still be competitive, Pettis showed us already what he can do at 170 pounds, stay tuned to Betting Insider Journal for an odds on Diaz vs Pettis closer to UFC 241.
