Prediction for Woodley vs Luque

At one point Woodley looked unbeatable, accumulating wins over Robbie Lawler, Wonderboy, and Darren Till. He defended the welterweight title successfully three times and is now on a three-fight losing streak.

That being said, big props for Woodley for taking this fight, he could have asked for a Robbie Lawler or Demian Maia rematch; that would be less dangerous.

Woodley is coming off suffering a broken rib to Colby Covington last September. That’s a quick turnaround to go up against Luque, who is one of the toughest fighters in the welterweight division.

Another huge advantage is Luque trains under Henri Hooft, who was training Usman and Burns for their respective fights against Woodley.

In terms of grappling, we know Woodley is proficient in this area. However, Luque’s grappling seems overlooked and if this fight goes to the ground it could be anyone’s fight.

I expect the majority of this fight to take place on the feet. Where Luque will pressure Woodley and can do so aggressively over the course of three rounds. Luque is definitely a hit-able opponent but he has such a solid chin, he knows he can take the shots.

One of the main questions yet again, will be what will Woodley answer back with? Overall I don’t see this style of fight working in Woodley’s favor, which will result in Luque getting a TKO or decision win.
