Betting on Sandhagen vs Yan at UFC 267

Petr Yan has been a dominant force since entering the UFC 2018. He started his UFC run with a record of (8-1) and is currently (15-2). After a mauling of Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259, Yan ended the fight by throwing an illegal knee, therefore Sterling won the bout. Prior to that Yan has back to back wins over Urijah Faber and Jose Aldo, both by finish.

Cory Sandhagen is coming his second UFC loss to the return of T.J. Dillashaw. While many had “The Sandman” winning he narrowly lost due to his lack of championship-level experience. Sandhagen has an impressive resume with wins over Raphael Assunção, Marlon Moraes, and Frankie Edgar.

Cory Sandhagen Breaks Down His Signature Moves

When it comes to betting Sandhagen or Yan at UFC 267, both have ways to win this fight. Sandhagen is the future of the 135-pound division in many media members’ eyes. He represents a true technician that takes elements of the best UFC fighters we’ve seen over the years and improved on it.

There was a killer instinct that was missing in his bout against Dillashaw, that was a combination of Sandhagen’s own game plan that wasn’t as effective and Dillashaw stopping his rhythm. That all being said, this fight is much closer on paper than the oddsmakers and the betting public is favoring.

We knew Yan is the most deserved bantamweight champion. His boxing is easily the best among the lower weight classes and his relentless pace is real championship material. I expect this match-up to be a technical masterclass, which could mean a feeling out priceless for the first round at least.

Sandhagen has pulled off some unorthodox finishes over Moraes and Edgar and this is something we could see again and Yan’s defense will need to be on point throughout this fight. Yan’s key to success here is to keep this fight on the feet and try to walk down Sandhagen and dictate the pace.

Cory Sandhagen: “Everyone sees Petr Yan as the CHAMPION”

UFC Bantamweight Contenders Line Up

Rob Front was initially offered the interim bantamweight title shot. Font is currently ranked at number four, but he revealed that he had to turn the title opportunity down. “Obviously we got the call, but I just got off of the whole COVID-19 situation,” Font said. “We weren’t training so I couldn’t jump into that fight. I was pissed but things happen for a reason.

The return of former champion T.J. Dillashaw has put the whole division on notice. While he clearly wasn’t the same killer as before, this was his first fight after a lengthy layoff. It seems that Dillashaw will indeed face the winner of Yan vs Sandhagen in early 2022.

Lurking in the shadows of the UFC’s 135-pound division is one of the most recognizable names in KO artist Sean O’Malley. “Suga” Sean suggested he’s KO Yan inside one round if they were to fight. Big words from a star that is still unranked in the division, who still needs a top ten opponent to crack the bantamweight rankings.
