- We review the latest NCAAF odds for week 3.
- San Diego State are one upset pick over Utah to monitor.
- My biggest longshot of the week is Colorado over Minnesota (+2000).
Who had Appalachian State defeating Texas A&M in College Station? Now, we did advise people to take a longshot bet and place money on Texas to give Alabama a hard time, and the Crimson Tide escaped with a one-point victory over the Longhorns.

Week 3 doesn’t have very many eye-popping matchups, and the only Top 25 showdown is #12 BYU vs. #25 Oregon. Still, there are some teams on upset alert, and here are the odds for some of the most intriguing upset watches this weekend.
College Football Upset Picks Week 3
Remember, college football is nearly unpredictable. If anybody had money on Appalachian State defeating Texas A&M, they are celebrating life right now.
But, here are 3 possible upsets, and each one of them has very favorable odds.
San Diego State Over Utah (+920 Moneyline)
Utah lost to Florida in a Week 1 thriller, and the San Diego State Aztecs lost their home opener to Arizona in a frustrating game. Now, these two teams battle it out, and we really have no idea about the true identity of either team.
But, one year ago, the Aztecs defeated Utah, 33-31, in a top 25 showdown in San Diego. Whose to say it can’t happen again?
This figures to be a grind-it-out game, and both teams are coming off easy victories. Utah beat Southern Utah and the Aztecs defeated Idaho State, both games they were supposed to win. If this becomes a defensive battle, the Aztecs might come out on top, even though it isn’t easy to play in Salt Lake City.
The odds are favorable, and it’s worth taking a shot on San Diego State.
#13 Miami over #24 Texas A&M (+190 moneyline)
For some reason, the Hurricanes are underdogs against Texas A&M. If this were a few days earlier, I would believe it.
However, the Aggies lost a home game to Appalachian State. That hurts, and it nearly dropped them out of the top 25 altogether.
Miami hasn’t been tested yet as the Hurricanes have wins over Bethune-Cookman and Southern Miss. Mario Cristobal can get his first signature win, and while the Aggies are going to be upset after an ugly loss, they might trip up again.
The Hurricanes have plus odds against an Aggies team that just lost a bad game, so run with this before it goes away. Plus, Tyler Van Dyke has looked like one of the best quarterbacks in college football.
The longest of long shots: Colorado over Minnesota (+2000)
Yes, this is an absolute longshot of a pick. The Buffs have lost the first two games to TCU and Air Force and scored a total of 23 points combined. That hurts.
Minnesota is 2-0, although their victories have come against New Mexico State and Western Illinois. The fact of the matter is this: Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell needs to win a game soon. Moreover, with Michigan State up in Week 4 for Minnesota, this is the true definition of a trap game.
The odds are incredible (+2000), so you can cash in with just a few bucks. Go for it, and see if the Buffs can steal a massive upset on the road.
Sneaky upset alert: Troy over Appalachian State (+390 moneyline)
Appalachian State just shocked the world (again) with a victory over Texas A&M on the road. So, they should have no problem beating Troy, especially at home.
College Gameday is coming out for this game, and suddenly all eyes are on Appalachian State after they pulled off the biggest upset of the college football season. But, how many times have we seen teams pull off an upset then fall flat the next week?
This could happen now. Sure, Troy is 1-1, but the loss came to Ole Miss, and the Trojans could pull this off. The odds aren’t too favorable, but at +390, this is a sneaky good upset pick for Week 3 of the college football season.
