Anthony Joshua’s next opponent has been ordered by the IBF, that’s Bulgarian boxer Kubrat Pulev. The two heavyweights have been connected to fight back in 2017, now this is the closest we have seen the fight been official.
The opening betting odds pit Joshua as a major favorite over Pulev, we preview the odds and give some early fight analysis.
Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev Odds
For the latest Joshua Pulev odds, Anthony Joshua has a 96% of winning the fight with odds of (-2500). Bet $1000 to win $45 on the champ. Pulev’s odds are slim (+1100), with implied odds of 8.33%. Bet $100 on Pulev causing an upset win a cool $1100.
Joshua – Pulev Betting Trends
When Joshua and Pulev were originally scheduled to fight back in 2017, Joshua opened as a (-3333) betting favorite. Since then he dropped to (-3000) and now (-2500) in 2020. Expect certain online sportsbooks to lower Joshua’s chances even further due to the fight taking place in Istanbul and Joshua no longer being undefeated.
For Kubrat Pulev he’s been a steady betting favorite throughout his boxing career. The closest betting line in recent history for Pulev has been his bout against Hughie Fury, where he won by unanimous decision in 2018.
The Bottom Line
Both fighters have one pro-loss on their record, Pulev’s loss coming at the hands of former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko back in 2014. Since then Pulev has picked up impressive wins over Dereck Chisora, Samuel Peter and most recently the legendary Rydell Booker.
After Anthony Joshua’s huge upset loss to Andy Ruiz, the Brit turned things around in the rematch proving he can handle a loss and make the correct adjustments. We believe Joshua has the tools to defeat Pulev, but overall the betting line is not accurate of just how good Pulev is.
As per BoxingScene: “The WBO ruled, just hours after Joshua’s rematch victory over Ruiz Jr., that the Londoner must take on the Ukrainian within 180 days or by June 4, 2020.”
Anthony Joshua is the betting favorite (Bet $1000 to win $45). For Pulev as an underdog (Bet $100 to win $1100).
