Cruz Replaces Aldo
Many are forgetting Jose Aldo was originally scheduled to face Cejudo. Then due to the current pandemic UFC 249 was moved from Aldo’s native Brazil to a Jacksonville, Florida.
Somehow Cruz vs Cejudo seems a much more deserved fit especially for the bantamweight division. Cruz has not competed inside the Octagon since losing the 135-pound strap to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207 in December of 2016.
Will UFC 249 Happen? (Again)
With two title fights announced for UFC 249, we hope so. Once the UFC can secure a safe and healthy environment for their fighters. Florida have recently classified WWE as an essential service, so that leaves the gate open for future UFC events.
In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto, Cejudo had this to say: “I think we need to have a conversation with Dana and everybody there, because you don’t want to train and have them give you a certain date, and then you’re not peaking at the right time,””I need to know today. I don’t have time to waste if this is going to happen.”
