For UFC 249 Cerrone opens as the betting underdog in this rematch against Pettis. Although the betting line is close with Cowboy having a 48% chance of getting revenge for their first bout, where Pettis won by body kick in the first round.

Betting on Cowboy vs Pettis

At odds of (+105), you can bet $100 on Donald Cerrone to win $105. So you are almost looking at even money here. Betting on Anthony Pettis as a favorite it’s always a risky wager, “Showtime” has had some inconsistent performances over the years but so has Cowboy. You can bet $138 on Pettis to profit $100 at UFC 249.

Much has changed since 2013

Cowboy Cerrone was (19-4) prior to fighting Anthony Pettis, since then he has becoming the most active UFC fighter on the roster with the most wins, give plenty of losses to balance that too. He only fights the best of the best and that has resulted in a three-fight losing skid which he is currently on.

Prior to that Cowboy picked up impressive wins over Mike Perry, Alex Hernandez and Al Iaquinta, all back to back. The pressure leading up to UFC 250 shouldn’t be a problem this time for Cowboy due to the lack of press obligations in this current pandemic.

After defeating Cerrone in 2013, Anthony Pettis went on to face Benson Henderson at UFC 164 where he became the UFC Lightweight champion. He defended it once and then lost it to Rafael dos Anjos.

A patchy record since then has seen Pettis pick up wins over Charles Oliveira, Michael Chiesa and even dabbling at Welterweight with a huge upset over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

In his last outing Pettis lost by submission to Carlos Diego Ferreira. No matter what, expect fireworks in this lightweight bout with UFC vets going toe to toe.

Prediction: Donald Cerrone by decision.
