Betting on Tank Davis vs Ryan Garcia
Ryan Garcia has the speed and power to make the first few rounds of this fight entertaining and in his favor. However, from seeing the patience and defense that Davis showed against Rolly Romero he has improved immensely from previous fights. For what Davis might lack in volume against Garcia, Rolly Romero certainly felt the power Tank can pack and this is something that Garcia hasn’t faced yet is a big puncher.
This could become one of the biggest fights in recent boxing history, in terms of the star power that both of these boxers attract. Tank who just fought his last fight under Mayweather promotions has Floyd in his corner for the majority of his career. Now it’s time for the two to go their separate ways.
According to ESPN’s latest boxing rankings Davis is ranked #3 and Garcia #6 in the lightweight rankings. Meanwhile, Devin Haney who is now undisputed at lightweight reigns supreme with his recent win over George Kambosos Jr. A fight against Vasiliy Lomanchenko would be ideal for Haney, a much tougher one than Kambosos was for the ‘The Dream’
After Haney defeated Kambosos, Garcia went to social media to call the fight “boring” and “bland”. To which Davis responded by telling KingRy to keep his mouth shut.
For now, Garcia has another test in front of him against Fortuna, a fight that was initially set for 2021 but was canceled due to the pandemic. Real talks can start to progress once Garcia wins and can set the next steps to take on Tank Davis next.
Ryan Garica recently commented on the prospect of fighting Tank, he cautioned: “In the past, I’m always with the call out. I’ve grown, I’ve matured.
“I’m going to let my team handle it. I’m going to let my coaches… but when it’s on, it’s on. Right now I’m going to trust my team and we’re gonna move forward.”
The realistic outcome of Davis vs Garcia happening in 2022 is slim. Golden Boy Promotions should let Garcia take on some more challenges before throwing him into the fire against Davis. Two years from now, this fight could be much more competitive and the appeal will only grow once it doesn’t go past its sell by date like Floyd vs Pacquiao did.
