The Favorites
The current Bellator Light Heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov is the firm favorite to defend his title in the upcoming Grand Prix. You can bet $100 on Nemkov to win $190. Nemkov defeated Ryan Bader in August 2020 to the Light Heavyweights strap, he’s in his prime and will be a tough opponent to knock off the throne.
The second favorite is Bellator newcomer Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero. He is given odds of +400, that’s $400 profit for a $100 bet. Romero had multiple title shots in the UFC but failed to reach capture the gold. At 44 years of age, can The Solider of God win a Bellator title? The oddsmakers seem to think he has a good chance.
Ryan Bader has odds of +550 to retain his old strap. Bader won the Light Heavyweight title at Bellator 180 when he defeated Phil Davis. He defended it against Linton Vassell and went on to win the Heavyweight title, becoming Bellator’s double champ. When it came to defending his Light Heavyweight belt, Bader lost it to Vadim Nemkov at Bellator 224.
Another former UFC star Anthony Johnson has come out of retirement and will make his Bellator debut at this LHW tournament. Johnson hasn’t fought since 2017 but has notable wins over Ryan Bader and Phil Davis who both feature in this tournament. Could Johnson be the one to watch? I believe there are many questions makes, but at +700 he’s a solid contender with real betting value.
