UFC 277 is set for July 30 from at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. A highly anticipated rematch in the women’s bantamweight division is set to headline the card.
Julianna “Venezuelan Vixen” Pena will make her first title defense against the fighter after claiming the 145-pound strap at UFC 269. The “Lioness” is determined to reclaim what was lost and we cover the latest UFC 277 betting odds with a fight prediction to follow.
Pena vs Nunes 2 Odds
Fighter | Odds |
Julianna Pena | +240 |
Amanda Nunes | -300 |
Julianna Pena relishes her underdog status once again at UFC 277, the champ is a +240 underdog. That’s an implied win probability of 29.4% from online sportsbooks, with a $100 wager on Pena netting $240 profit.
While Nunes losing to Pena in their first fight was a shocker to many, she lost fair and square and the oddsmakers are not pitting her as a huge favorite but still a solid one to reclaim her title at UFC 277.

Pena vs Nunes Prediction for Rematch
Pena was the first fighter to stop the Brazilian since 2014, this made a huge statement and not many banked on Pena getting a win over Nunes. Now the odds are much closer with Nunes still getting the edge to become “AndNew” at UFC 277.
Julianna Pena had the advantage over Nunes not only when the fight hit the ground, but on the feet, Pena was piecing up the “Lioness”. For Nunes, there is a trend that she either finishes her opponents in the first round Tate, Rousey, Holm, Cyborg, and Megan Anderson were all 1st round wins. Or in some instances lately, Germaine de Randamie and Felicia Spencer have made it more difficult by going to the judge’s scorecards.
Pena on the other hand seemed reenergized during her two UFC fights in 2021. Won both fights by submission, Sara McMann in January then Nunes in December. In the rematch I expect Nunes to be more prepared and not take Pena, so lightly as she did in their first fight. Nunes had become so reliant on the power, that once Pena could take a shot and counter it left the “Lioness” stunned, and with no strategy her gameplan was out the window.
The UFC stats from UFC 269 paint a clear picture of Nunes pushing the pace too hard in the first round. With the tide turning swiftly in the second round and Pena punishing Nunes with 74 strikes landed compared to Nunes’s 36.
It was the efficiency of Pena’s straight jab, that caught Nunes clean almost every time. Nunes will need better-striking defense as the jab is an underrated tool that could make the difference in this fight, by keeping Nunes at distance and catching her every time she comes within reach.
If this fight goes to the championship rounds the odds will be more in favor of Nunes given here championship level experience. That being said, if she takes near as much damage as she did in the first fight she will be fatigued and easier to finish.
As a +240 underdog, there is clear betting value on Pena to win this fight once again. Check out the UFC 277 prop bets for Pena to win insider the distance, by submission or TKO this time.
Betting Pick: Pena inside the distance.
