Belator is really turning up the heat so far in 2019, so far we had the final of the Heavyweight Grand Prix where Ryan Bader was came through as Bellator’s for champ champ. Then we have one of the biggest rivalry in British MMA with MVP takes on veteran Paul Daley.
The latest announcement excites us the most, it’s for the lightweight title and features two of Bellators most gifted fighters. Patricio ‘Pitbull” Freire will move up from featherweight to challenge lightweight champion Micheal Chandler.
Chandler (19-4) represents one of Bellators most decorated champions from becoming champion 3 times, to his intense wars with Eddie Alvarez. He is a true athlete in every sense of the word, he lost his lightweight title in 2017 to Brent Primus due to leg injury and bounced back in 2018 with 3 fights; the last of which was a rematch with Primus where he retained his belt.
Pitbull (28-4) is the Bellator featherweight champion so this represents a true super-fight, champion vs. champion. Pitbull may be fuelled to avenge his older brothers loss to Chandler back in 2016.
