“I can’t quite believe this fight has been made,” Hearn said. “It’s happened very quickly and it has to be said Hughie Fury has a big set of balls. There’s huge risk in the fight, but there is also huge reward and if Hughie can beat Povetkin, he catapults himself into huge fights and immediate world title contention.”

Alexander Povetkin (34-2, 24 KOs), was once the greatest heavyweight champions in the world, before losing to Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 – he was 26-0, an undefeated champion that held multiple championship belts. Since then Povetkin went on an eight-run tear picking up wins over Carlos Takam and most recently David Price.

‘I WILL ABSOLUTELY DESTROY POVETKIN’ – HUGHIE FURY / TALKS SIGNING WITH EDDIE HEARN & FAN CRITICISM

This is a huge step up for Hughie Fury, cousin of the great Tyson Fury. So far Hughie has managed to represented England at the Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships and won a gold medal at super-heavyweight and became the first British fighter to win one at that weight class in that event.

Fury has yet to be stopped in his boxing career, his two losses came by way of decision. We fancy taking our chances here on Fury as an underdog against an aging Povetkin.
