Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman are reportedly in “advanced talks” for a welterweight title fight this July. This intriguing fight will be huge for boxing fans across the world, Thurman will put his WBA titles on the line.
Manny Pacquiao who’s now 40, recently outboxed Adrien Broner in January. The “Pac Man” has been appealing for a rematch against Floyd Mayweather once again, who doesn’t want a Mayweather paycheque these days? For now though it appears Mayweather is not interested. A win here for Pacquiao might be enough to convince Mayweather to warrant a massive PPV breaking rematch.
Keith “The One” Thurman (29-0) is 10 years younger than Pacquiao, but styles make fights and we’ve seen Thurman have difficulty with certain southpaw boxers in the past – such as Luis Collazo. If Thurman beats Pacquiao he will unify all the WBA belts and cement his legacy as one of the great welterweights in boxing.
A win here for Thurman means he can set his sights on the winner of Spence vs. Porter once it’s confirmed by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
