Joanna Jedrzejczyk will make her return to straweight to take on #7 ranked fighter Michelle Waterson in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 19, taking place on October 12th.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk opens as the betting favorite over the “Karate Hottie” Waterson. Bet $100 on Waterson to profit $120, while Jedrzejczyk as the favorite means if you wagered $100 you could make $66.67.
Jedrzejczyk’s only loss at 115 pounds came at the hands of Rose Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk also holds a win over current champion Jessica Andrade from back in 2017.
After losing her title to Rose Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk failed to regain it in the rematch. This led the former dominant champion to dabble in a higher weight-class at flyweight. Where she was outsized by current flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko last December at UFC 231.
Since then the straweight title has also passed hands, Rose Namajunas defended her title in challenger Jessica Andrade’s homecuntry of Brazil at UFC 237, where Namajunas was outclassing Andrade up until a body slam in the 2nd-round knocks the champ out cold.
Waterson (17-6), is enjoying a nice rebound after a tough 2017 where she lost two straight fights. She bounced back into the win column by picking up a win over Cortney Casey, then lined up victories over Felice Herrig and Karolina Kowalkiewicz, all by decision.
Jedrzejczyk reigned supreme at 115 pounds for so long and would be quite comfortable in picking Waterson apart for five-rounds, unless Waterson can bring something new to the table.
According to UFC stats, Waterson has a grappling accuracy of 60%, also up until 2018 all of her UFC wins came by way of submission.
