- Kevin Lee opens as the betting underdog (+147), as he returns to lightweight to challange the favourite (-172) Gregor Gillespie.
- Gillespie is undefeated and presents a huge wrestling threat for any opponent at lightweight.
- Lee has moved camps and now trains with Firas Zahabi at Tristar, will the change of camps mean a return to form for the former Motown Phenom?
Kevin Lee returns to action at UFC 244 in New York, after dabbling in welterweight and picking up a loss to Rafael dos Anjos – the Motown Phenom now plans to return to 155-pounds. Welcoming Lee back to lightweight, stands a huge challange in Gregor Gillespie. We preview the opening UFC odds for Lee vs Gillespie below.
Lee vs Gillespie Odds
Fighter | Odds |
Kevin Lee | (+147) |
Gregor Gillespie | (-172) |
Lee opens as the underdog among the majority of betting sites here, he has greater experience compared to Gillespie but is after losing three out his past four. Gillespie being betting favourite here, means if you wager $172 you could profit $100.
Lee (17-5), is as talented as it comes for an MMA athlete, he has suffered from the impact of not finding the right training camp since his previous trainer passed away. Both Lee and Gillespie are talented wrestlers that can strike decently too, many forget that Lee stopped Edson Barboza in 2018.
As for Gillespie (13-0), he remains undefeated since turning pro in 2014, currently on 6-0 run inside the Octagon. Gillespie’s last bout was demolishing of Yancy Medeiros, in his short UFC career “The Gift” has picked up two performance of the night and one fight of the night.
This is certainly a dangerous fight for Lee to take, but we honestly haven’t seen Gillespie face a fighter on Lee’s level nor be taken into deep waters which we all know the Motown Phenom is capable of.
UFC 244 is becoming a stacked New York card, headlined by Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz, for the BMF title. Check out the preview and latest odds for that here.
