Eubank Jr vs Williams Prediction
Eubank Jr won the WBA Super World Championship last year after defeating Arthur Abraham in Germany. He was also named 2019 Fighter of the Year by The Ring Magazine after defeating James DeGale to take home the IBF World Super Middleweight Title belt here in London.
For Williams, who suffered back-to-back defeats to Liam Smith 2017, went on a tear picking up seven straight wins in a row. He then gave Demetrius Andrade a solid test, but like many came up short against the undefeated WBO middleweight champ.
Stylistically Eubank and Williams blend really well together. If Eubank Jr can add some more backfoot arsenal then he should have a clear edge over Williams. While Eubank does have success being the bull, he should leave that up to Williams being the aggressor and Eubank Jr can be the matador.
Liam Williams is an explosive boxer, that will try go in there and hurt Eubank Jr. This is exactly the style that will fall into Eubank’s game plan once he is smart enough to capitalize on it. Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr will be in Eubank Jr’s corner once again and he has one of the best boxing minds in the business to advise Eubank.
If William switches his style and keeps his distance this will cause Eubank more problems, as it will mean he’ll have to come forward more and Williams will have the advantage there with his jab to piece Eubank up and keep him at bay.
I expect Eubank to deliver some crisp uppercuts and work the body of Williams too over the course of the fight. Overall, this should be a really exciting fight and on paper, it’s some excellent match-making to get Eubank in line for another big fight as he enters his prime.
Betting Pick: Eubank Jr via Decision.
Eubank and Williams Expect a Finish
This bout has been discussed for a long time. The buzz is really starting to pick up and there seems to be a real grudge between the pair. Williams is now a free agent and he credits that for being able to get this fight across the line.
“This is a personal fight for me,” Eubank Jr told Sky Sports. “Most of the time, boxing is just business. You get in there, you fight another man and you just want to win.
“With this guy here, I genuinely don’t like the man, he’s said a lot of disrespectful things about me over the last few months, and it’s time to make him eat those words.
“I definitely can’t repeat the things he’s said on social media, but trust me it’s very hard to stay calm with the things he’s been saying. Now I have a good opportunity to go into that ring and make him pay.”
Undisputed junior middleweight and IBF, WBA and WBC champion Claressa Shields has signed a multi-fight deal with European broadcasting company Sky Sports.
The deal for up to three fights will pay Shields an undisclosed seven-figure sum over the length of her contract. That includes all her future bouts, including Dec 11 against Ema Kozin. For more boxing odds, news, and more – bookmark Betting Insider Journal.
