Ortiz proved to be Wilder’s biggest test bar Tyson Fury in most recent fights, Ortiz lasted until the 10th-round in their March 2018 clash. Since then we’ve seen Ortiz pick up three wins, the last of which a UD win over Christian Hammer. At 40 the Cuban heavyweight is certainly getting up there in age, but with his only career loss coming at the hands of Wilder he must feel he has something to prove.

Once Wilder can get past Ortiz for a second time, he can set his sights on Anthony Joshua in 2020 or early 2021. Early odds are available for here Joshua vs. Wilder.

“I am going to reach out to Wilder to see if I can have a sit-down in person,” Joshua told BBC Sport. “What people say on camera is different to what people say eye to eye. So I have to sit down with him man-to-man and see where he’s at.”

The date and site of the Wilder vs Ortiz 2 have yet to be announced, but early rumblings indicate it will take place on 7 or 28 September in either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
