Lomachenko vs Commey Prediction

Vasyl Lomachenko still remains one of the greatest boxers of the modern era, he’s a pound-for-pound king and has barely lost rounds in his boxing career. He holds the record for the few bouts needed to win a belt in not just two divisions but three.

In his only professional loss to date against Teofimo Lopez, Loma took too long to get into his rhythm. By the later rounds, Lopez had already banked the first six rounds and was on cruise control to pick up the upset win. Unfortunately, there was no rematch clause for Loma, who later came out detailing his crippling shoulder injiry leading up to the fight.

Loma’s highly anticipated return was earlier this year against tall Japanese boxer Nakatami. Similar to Commey, Teofimo also faced Nakatami but had a much tougher road to pick up the win than Loma did. This tells us alot about Loma’s mindset and ability to bounce back as a fighter maintaining his true top ten pound for pound status.

On the other side, you have Commey who’s a hard-hitting and battle-tested boxer. Two of his three losses come by way of split decision and tells us alot about how competitive Commey is used to making fights.

Coming up against Loma will be a daunting challange for Commey who is becoming a sizeable underdog even more as the fight draws nearer. Of course, Commey has a chance here to upset the odds just like Lopez did, but it won’t be by winning rounds. Commey will need to hurt Loma earlier and in the fight and I just don’t see Loma letting that happen.

The way I see this fight playing out is Loma toying with Commey in the early rounds, showing flashes of brilliance. Then once it get’s into the later rounds he will go for the finish. Commey often extends too much over the right hand and leaves himself open, I can see Loma capitalizing on this and countering him.

Betting Pick: Loma by TKO/KO.
