Ryan Garcia-900
Javier Fortuna+500

According to the opening betting odds Ryan Garcia is a solid betting favorite at -900. My recommendation here is to wait for the betting props, for Garcia to win by finish or by decision.

While the odds are certainly against the experienced southpaw Fortuna, he has odds of +500. (Bet $100 to win $500.) For all the best boxing odds and sites to bet on boxing, check out our list of online sports betting sites here.

Betting Value on Fortuna

Javier Fortuna is a highly-skilled fighter. Unlike some of Garcia’s past opponents, they were more on the decline. Fortuna is a savage and at 31 years of age, has still got lots left in the tank.

I would like to give Ryan Garia and Golden Boy Promotions the props for getting this fight done, against Fortuna as a rough customer. Overall this is a dangerous fight for Garcia, and not one that I would be willing to put $900 down to win $100 on a straight moneyline bet on Garcia.

If you are looking for an overlooked underdog in an upcoming boxing bout, then Fortuna is the one. We saw Garcia look vulnerable in the opening rounds of his last fight against Luke Campbell, but he eventually took over. Expect Fortuna to come out strong in the opening rounds also, which could ultimately be his downfall for getting clipped by Garcia.

What’s Next for KingRy

Many are wondering why Garcia isn’t fighting Devin Haney or Gervonta Davis. Well, it’s all about building up a fight, so we eventually see the best vs the best. Haney is taking on George Kambosos next. Gervonta Davis meanwhile, is coming off an impressive 6th-round KO of Rolly Romero. Davis is expected to become a free agent next and hopefully, we get to see ‘Tank’ take on these bigger names at lightweight.

“Fortuna is eager and will be ready, but so will I,” said Garcia. “No one can beat me in the lightweight division, period. I’m going to show the world who I am.”

“Ryan Garcia should take this fight very seriously and train properly because he will be facing, by far, the best fighter of his career,” said Fortuna. “Hopefully on fight night, there will be no excuses for his loss. I expect this fight to be a war while it lasts, but I have too much of everything for Ryan Garcia. His last fight showed how easy he is to hit. And his power won’t mean anything to me. But mine will put him to sleep.”

This fight against Fortuna makes a tone of sense and will really round out Garcia’s resume as he makes his way to the top. I expect this fight to be a war with both fighters who have shown they are hittable and not afraid to throw down.
