Jack Hermansson remains a solid middleweight contender since entering the UFC in 2016. The Swedish-Norwegian is coming off a unanimous decision win over Edmen Shahbazyan in May.
Prior to that ‘The Joker’ lost to title challenger Marvin Vettori, it has been a tough road for Hermasson who has yet to get a title shot at 185 pounds. Outside of MMA, Hermansson also competed in a freestyle wrestling match last month, losing to Khamzat Chimaev.
Hermansson’s opponent Sean Strickland has been red hot since moving up from welterweight to middleweight. He’s on a five win fight streak and is coming off an impressive win over Uriah Hall. Strickland was supposed to fight former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold next, but that fight didn’t transpire due an injury Rockhold picked up.
This is a fight Sean has been calling for and it’s actually good for both fighters. As the top five are booked up for Hermansson right now. If Sean wins here it will be a huge test if he can hang in there with the top five middleweights. I expect Strickland to wear on Hermansson and grind out a decision win, picking up his biggest UFC win to date.
