The chosen one the one and only Jon “Bones” Jones returns at UFC 285. For what seemed like an eternity without Jones, waiting for his transition to heavyweight. It’s finally here and with Francis Ngannou out of the UFC, that leaves a vacant heavyweight title up for grabs.
Jones will take on one of the most technically sound heavyweight fighters we’ve seen in years in Ciryl “Bon Gamin” Gane. This fight should be dynamite and we review the latest Jones vs Gane betting odds with an early fight prediction below.

Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane Prediction
After a three-year hiatus, Jon Jones returns to the UFC in his final form at heavyweight. In what many regards as the modern MMA GOAT, Jones has 13-title defenses at light heavyweight. Jones will be 36 in May of this year and has clocked up 27-fights in his UFC run.
His opponent Ciryl Gane is a perfect opponent to test Jones’s standing in 2023. Gane is a prolific striker and his approach to striking resembles Jones’ in a way. Where each shot he throws intends to disarm his opponents with no wasted energy.
There is a strong chance here that this fight takes 1-2 rounds to get going. Then Gane could start to out-point Jones, especially with the added weight Jones will be carrying.
When it comes to a well-rounded MMA skill set Jones clearly has the advantage here. Online sportsbooks know there are many question marks around Jones’ return, his last few appearances at 205-pounds weren’t as dominant prior to 2018. Then add the increased weight training to fight at heavyweight for the first time has an air of uncertainty until we see.
That all being said, Jones will likely look to mix up his diverse striking with some wrestling at UFC 285. Greg Jackson will be in Jones’ corner as always and with the fresh face of Henry Cejudo assisting him, you know there will be a solid gameplan for Jones 2.0.
Gane’s last loss was to Ngannou, a fight where “The Predator” went into full wrestling mode from the third round and started to dominate the Frenchman. Gane had no answer for Ngannou’s wrestling capabilities, while I do expect him to work on his takedown defense it will be a power struggle between the two.
After that last loss, Gane returned later in 2022 to take on Tai “Bam Bam” Tuivasa at UFC Paris. Gane looked comprised and unfazed by the fight earlier in the year, finishing Tuivasa in the 3-round with style.
One of the best bets for UFC 285 between Gane and Jones is the fight going the distance. Both are solid strikers but not massive power punchers for the weight class. Expect Jones to really keep Gane guessing, with confident striking carrying more power in his punches, elbows, and mixing in grappling and wrestling.
