Budd (13-2), has been a dominant champion at Bellator since winning the belt back in 2017 against Marloes Coenen. Since then the Canadian BC based fighter has defended it three more times. Budd was once connected with a potential Cyborg fight back when they fought in Invicta, it never transpired so this is a welcomed fight for both competitors and fans.
Cyborg (21-1-) (1-NC), has only lost once in MMA to the current UFC double champ Amanda Nunes. Cyborg bounced back after that loss to defeat Felicia Spencer at UFC 240. After a fall out with UFC president Dana White, they decided to release Cyborg from her contract. This was probably a smart move by the UFC, due to Cyborg’s marketing tactics failed and also puts Nunes is on a pedestal after defeating her Cyborg.
Cyborg will be a true test for Budd in her anticipated Bellator MMA debut. This is a win-win situation for Bellator and we are expecting an early fight of the year contender after January 25!
