“Maximum violence” is expected when Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin step inside the ring in early May to contend for the WBC interim heavyweight title.
Whyte opens as the early betting favorite with Povetkin being a worthy underdog. We preview the opening odds for these two top heavyweights and give our early fight prediction.
Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin Odds
Dillian Whyte has the advantage in the oddsmakers opening betting line. With a winning probability of 80% to defeat Povetkin, this seems like a solid bet. However, at odds of 1/4 (-400), you would have to bet $100 to win $25.

Is Povetkin being overlooked?
Yes we believe Alexander Povetkin is being underestimated by the opening odds here. He gave Anthony Joshua some problems when they fought and defeated Hughie Fury back in August 2019. Povetkin is coming off a competitive draw with Michael Hunter, which was a fair result for the 40 year old boxer.
Dillian Whyte looked out of shape in his last two bouts, let’s hope the devastator is up for the challenge and comes in sharp against Povetkin. Expect Whyte to come out strong from the first bell and try bully Povetkin.
The Russian will do a good job of keeping Whyte at bay with his reach and jab, but expect Whyte to get on the inside and work his hooks to the body and head.
Pick: Dillian Whyte by TKO
With only one loss on his record at the hands of AJ, Whyte should be getting a fight against Andy Ruiz, Fury or a AJ rematch if successful.
