Evander Holyfield vs. Kevin McBride – FULL PRESS CONFERENCE – Fight Night

What can we expect from “The Real Deal”?

Evander Holyfield reigned summer during the late 80’s as a cruiserweight and moving up to heavyweight in the early 90’s.

Unlike some of his past opponents who have gotten out of shape after retirement, Holyfield has remained in shape and has trained regularly to maintain his power and physical ability.

“I am proud to be able to join Triller Fight Club as they are exactly what our industry needed. They have reimagined the sport of boxing in a very exciting new way,” Holyfield said. “Their combination of young talent, music, entertainment and special matchups is setting a new standard for our sport, and my return to the ring for this fight is one that everyone, myself included, will enjoy, and I am proud to help take this to the next level.”

I think the oddsmakers might be overlooking the physical ability of Holyfield at his age. Holyfield’s opponent Kevin McBride might have been an underwhelming choice for the return of the legend. However, McBride has his accolades of representing Ireland in the Olympics and being the man to defeat Mike Tyson in June 2005.

Triller’s Future in Boxing

Mike Tyson’s return on the Triller platform was a huge success. Amidst the pandemic, Tyson’s return to action against the legendary Roy Jones Jr, sold more than 1.6 million pay-per-view buys.

Triller combines the action of boxing with live music in-between fights to give viewers a real concert feel experience. Although some fans were expecting more action and less live music, this is something that can be worked on as the brand develops.

The last major Triller event was Askren vs Paul, where the retired UFC weltweight was KO’d in the first round by YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul.

If Holyfield can get past McBride then it would set up a huge trilogy bout between Tyson and Holyfield. Even if he loses Tyson vs McBride would still sell incredibly well. Holyfield vs McBride will feature as the co-main to Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos with odds on that bout covered here.
