Edgar vs Vera Prediction
This is a really quick turnaround for Edgar, coming off a devastating flying knee loss to Cory Sandhagen. That’s the dog in Frankie Edgar for you, he’s different bread and has had a lengthy UFC career. His fight style has become more readable especially when he comes up against these top-level younger fighters. Since 2018, we haven’t seen much killer instinct from Edgar this is a risky fight against a hungry “Chito”, that’s 11 years younger than Edgar. Where Edgar does shine if he can get on the inside and take Vera down.
Frankie Edgar’s grappling has shown some holes in his game, compared to the first half of his UFC career. If Edgar decides to grapple against Vera, I don’t see him having much success. We’ve already seen Vera’s grappling on display against Song Yadong, yet that wasn’t enough to win on the judge’s scorecards in that bout.
On the other side, this is a huge opportunity for Marlon Vera to get back in the title picture, with a win over Edgar. Marlon Vera has a diverse skill set, he chopped the leg of Sean O’Malley. I expect both fighters to be fighting for the center of the octagon, I expect Vera to keep his distance and play this fight extremely smart and wait for his moment to land the most dangerous shots. I expect Vera to score a late TKO win over Edgar, utilizing shots to the body and eventually the head.
Betting Pick: Marlon Vera

Has Usman Surpassed GSP?
Usman has already wiped out the division and is now working his way through rematches. There is no denying the dominance of the “Nigerian Nightmare” and now his manager Ali Abdelaziz is claiming that once he defeats Covington a second time, those super fights are the only way forward.
“Listen to me, I love Georges, he’s a friend of mine, but when you talk about being fair, Kamaru is going to break his record,” Ali told MMA Fighting. “He’s tied with him for the most wins. He’s on a 17-fight winning streak, 13 in the UFC or something like that, some crazy amount of wins. Never been dropped. Never really been beat up in a fight. His only toughest fight was Colby [Covington] and he knocked his ass out.
“The man has never been taken down. Georges cannot say that. We talk about dominance — Kamaru never lost in the UFC. Never even been a close fight in the UFC. Georges lost, close decisions, controversial decisions but he’s a legend. You have to give it Georges but I think Kamaru is the greatest welterweight of all-time now.”
