  • Can Logan Paul upset the odds and defeat ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson?

One of the latest fight rumors in the world of exhibition boxing bouts is between legendary Mike Tyson and YouTube star turn boxing pro Logan Paul. This fight is in the works for February 2022, with Logan Paul coming off a decision loss to Floyd Mayweather. While Mike Tyson retired in 2005, had a resurging comeback with an impressive display against Roy Jones Jr. Similar to Tyson’s last bout, this will indeed be an exhibition bout and not appear on either boxer’s official boxing record.

Mike Tyson vs Logan Paul!? Logan Paul May be in for a Very Rough Night…

Betting on Mike Tyson vs Logan Paul

On paper, Tyson has been the most devastating heavyweight in history, reigning supreme from 1987 to 1990 as the undisputed champion. Yet the opening odds here only have ‘Iron’ Mike as the slight favorite. Let me tell you, this is a brilliant ploy from online sports betting sites to get some early money on his exhibition bout.

When Logan Paul fought Floyd Mayweather he was on average a +900 underdog. That seems more in line with what the betting line should be against Tyson. Given Paul’s athletic ability and size, he should have some advantages over Tyson. Including the holding and reach advantage which was apparent against Floyd.

That all being said, when it comes to Tyson preparing for a fight there is no such thing as an exhibition. Obviously, he’s not competing for a championship or in his prime anymore, but he still poses that killer instinct and incredibly muscle memory that we saw repeated in the Jones Jr bout. Where Tyson would bob and weave looking for the right moment to land a heavy shot.

I agree that Tyson will try to make an example of Paul in this fight. Unlike Floyd who carried him from the fourth round onwards. Tyson will make a statement and I expect him to punish Paul by delivering body shots and even some headshots, that should be enough for the referee to intervene or Tyson to back off and pick up the win. Early Betting Pick: Mike Tyson via TKO.

The Real Money Fight

Tyson has been a fan of some of these cross-over fights happening, from his recent comments on his podcast HotBoxing.

“I am going to have a return fight in February and we are pretty skeptical about the opponent, but it will be a really stimulating opponent,” Tyson said.

“That is the fight for the money. Those are the money-making fights, those guys got 35 million people to watch,” he said last year.

“Yes. Hell, I would fight them. They would fight me. That would make a lot of money. Hundred million dollars, they do anything, they don’t mind getting beat up for a hundred million dollars.”

Not many know this, but Tyson and Paul do have a friendship behind the scenes. So getting this confirmed shouldn’t be too difficult from here. Both men are businessmen and understand the benefits of playing off against each other to sell tickets.
