Betting on Figueiredo vs Moreno 4
Going back to the roots of this quadrilogy, you have to look back to UFC 256 in late 2020. It was a back-and-forth battle that was a fight of the year candidate, with it ending in a draw. It was a no-brainer to call for an immediate rematch with Figueiredo embracing his role as the villain and Moreno becoming a real fan favorite as the “Assasin Baby”.
Out of all the fights so far, Moreno was the biggest underdog for their first bout at UFC 256. Coming into the fight as a +275 live dog’. In the rematch of UFC 263, Moreno maintained his underdog status against Figueiredo.
This time Figueiredo, was just shy of -200 compared to -320 from their first bout. The rematch was the shortest of the three fights so far, with Moreno putting on a clinical performance against Figueiredo finishing the Brazilian by submission in the 3rd round.
For the trilogy, Figueiredo brought in the assistance of “Triple C” Henry Cejudo. It paid off for the former flyweight champion who fought a strategic game plan against Moreno. Scoring a unanimous decision win on the judges scorecards 48-47.. Now the scales we’ve balanced again with the trilogy going 1-1-1.
My early hunch is that Figueiredo will have the edge in this fight and be the slight favorite by the time fight night rolls around.
Moreno Wants to Settle the Score
Brandon Moreno knows just how close the 4th fight went. With a submission win already over Figgy, perhaps the “Assassin Baby” will go back to a style similar to the second bout.
“I want my manager to push for the fourth fight; that’s all I want right now,” Moreno told MMA Junkie in January. “I don’t want anything else. Obviously if it doesn’t happen, I’ll be pissed. I’ll say whatever I’ll say, and then the next day I’ll be focused on the opponent. But for me, it’s very clear what I want – I want the fourth fight.
“I want to fight Deiveson, and I want to finish this. I want there to be a clear winner in all of this.”
